APPLICATION.
POINT 1 : THE DEVIL ATTACKED JESUS’ WEAKEST AREA.
The scripture plainly says that Jesus had just gotten off a 40 day fast. If you don’t know what that means basically Jesus just went 40 days only drinking water! So you could only imagine how hungry he was!
But the Devil immediately tried to get Jesus to give in to his temptation because he knew that Jesus was starving! Jesus didn’t give in because he knew that his strength not only came from food but the words and truth of God.
The Devil knows your weakest area. He knows what you struggle with and he will try and take advantage of your condition. Remember hard seasons are inevitable, there is no way around them. So when the Devil is attacking your weaknesses remember what the scripture says about what we need.
John 6:35 | “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
POINT 2 : THE DEVIL ATTACKED JESUS’ MIND.
The mind is wonderful, but it can also be a very dangerous place without wisdom.
The Devil took Jesus to the highest point in the city and basically asked him to attempt suicide.
Jesus told the devil that the scripture says not to “Test God”. What he meant was that he did not have to prove God’s faithfulness.
Remember when the Devil is tempting you and trying to get you to REACT, that you don’t have to prove anything to him. Remain strong and confident in who God is and how he is ALWAYS FAITHFUL!
POINT 3 : THE DEVIL ATTACKED JESUS’S SONSHIP.
Finally the Devil took Jesus to the top of a high mountain and began to point out all of the kingdoms of the world, all of the beautiful areas and more, “I will give all of this to you IF you bow down and worship me”...
Immediately Jesus rebuked him and said that he only serves one, and it is his father in Heaven!
What was the Devil thinking?
How could he try and tempt the Son Of God?
The same temptation that the Devil tried using on Jesus is the same temptation that we face today, the thought of “There is something better than what God isn’t showing me.”
This is a lie! God always has our best interests in mind.
